`~` <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />SEPTEMBER 21, 2010 <br />Present: President of Council Limpert, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Jones, <br />Kearney, Orlowski, Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Clerk of Council Gallo, <br />Director of Human Resources Farver, Director of Public Safety and Public <br />Service Ritenauer, Director of Planning and Development Wenger <br />Absent: Council Member Mahoney, Director of Finance Copfer <br />President Limpert called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />Councilman Brossard made a motion to remove Ordinance 2010-108 from third reading <br />to bring it back to committee. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Jones and <br />passed unanimously. Ordinance 2010-108 reassigned to committee. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of September 8, 2010 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: Second Reading -Ordinance 2010-111, 2010-113 & Resolution 2010-119; <br />First Reading -Ordinance 2010-123, Resolution 2010-125 & Resolution 2010-127. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• SAFETY -The Police Department is again taking part in Operation Medicine <br />Cabinet on Saturday, September 25, 2010 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The <br />purpose of this completely confidential program is to collect unused and/or <br />expired medication for proper disposal. Four laid-off firefighters will be back to <br />work by October 17, 2010 as a result of the SAFER grant. The 2010 SAFER <br />grant has been submitted and seeks funding for open positions lost through <br />attrition. Ladder 1 is no longer being utilized as a ladder truck because a testing <br />company determined the torque box on Ladder 1 to be unsound and likely to fail <br />when under a load. That vehicle will now be used as a pumper. If needed, a <br />ladder truck from another city will be requested as the City continues to look for <br />grant opportunities to replace this vehicle. The Battle of the Badges flag football <br />game raised over $ 5,000 this year, bringing their five year total to over $ 40,000 <br />
