MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />SEPTEMBER 8, 2010 <br />Present: President of Council Limpert, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Jones, <br />Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski, Williamson. <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Law Director Gareau, Clerk of Council Gallo, Director <br />of Human Resources Farver, Director of Public Safety and Public Service <br />Ritenauer, Director of Planning and Development Wenger. <br />Absent: Director of Finance Copfer <br />President Limpert called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. There was a moment of silence in honor of the victims of September 11, <br />2001. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of August 17, 2010 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: Second Reading -Ordinances 2010-106 and 2010-107, Resolutions 2010- <br />109 and 2010-110; First Reading - Resolution 2010-114, Ordinance 2010-115, <br />Resolutions 2010-116, 2010-117, 2010-118, 2010-120 and 2010-121. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• SAFETY -The cause of the fire on Louis Drive in August has been ruled <br />accidental. The damage estimate exceeds $ 100,000. Fire department runs are up <br />approximately 3% and EMS runs are up approximately 3.4%. EMS accounts for <br />approximately 85% of all fire department activity. Creative Safety Products and <br />the Police Chief are working on a Community Resources magazine tailored to the <br />City of North Olmsted that will provide community resource information, safety <br />tips and more. There is no cost to the city or the consumer for this publication. <br />The automated license plate reader has been installed in one of the cruisers and is <br />operational. Officers are currently receiving training on this device. The reader <br />was purchased by the Cleveland Police Department as part of a Homeland <br />Security Initiative, and they own and maintain the unit. The North Olmsted <br />Police Department, in cooperation with the Westshore Enforcement Bureau and <br />the DEA will be participating in another Operation Medicine Cabinet on <br />
