Council Minutes of 08-03-2010 <br /> <br />Barker moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Jones and <br />passed unanimously. Resolution 2010-104 adopted. The Resolution was read by the <br />Clerk in its entirety, and Adam Campbell was recognized by all present. <br />President Limpert announced there will be an Eagle Scout project on August 21, 2010 at <br />9:00 a.m., and members of the public are invited to participate in the painting of Briggs <br />Home at Frostville Museum. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• He introduced Amy Wainwright, NOACA's Air Quality Planner. She presented <br />the city with "no idling" signs. Councilman Barker mentioned that <br />Councilwoman Jones and Councilman Orlowski brought forth legislation on no <br />idling last year. <br />• The bike parade was July 3, 2010 for the July 4 celebration and was well <br />attended. <br />• The Division of Youth Services was recently audited by representatives from the <br />Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court and successfully passed all portions of the <br />review. <br />• Firefighter Anthony Havel resigned on June 25 to take a similar position with a <br />nearby city. <br />• Police Captain Kevin Whelan is retiring in September. Kevin was hired in 1973 <br />and has served as a Captain since 1995. <br />• The Human Resources Department received notification from Dennis Minni (the <br />fact-finder that heard the case involving the City and the IAFF) that he will <br />proceed with collections litigation against the IAFF. Mr. Minni will be including <br />the City as a defendant. This case involves payment due to Mr. Minni for his <br />services in the fact-finding matter. We met with the IAFF yesterday and their <br />President, Mr. Boatman, said that he would pay the remaining balance to Mr. <br />Minni within the week. <br />• During the labor-management meeting with the IAFF yesterday, they discussed <br />the status of the pending labor contract. To date, it has not been signed by the <br />union. Mr. Boatman indicated that he would contact their attorney and discuss <br />the few remaining outstanding issues. <br />• Brush pick-up is ongoing throughout the city. The brush crews have spent the last <br />several weeks picking up brush and debris from the storm that passed through <br />town nearly a month ago. To see a complete brush pick-up schedule in your area, <br />visit the city's website at www.north-olmsted.com. <br />• Hydrant painting on major streets has been completed, and painting on side streets <br />is ongoing. <br />• Street resurfacing projects are well underway throughout the city.
