The building will replace a former eye care center. The value of the
project is $2.2 million dollars.
• The Cultural Activities Commission and Kiwanis Club will host its third annual
Arts Festival this Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Frostville Museum between 10:00
a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Admission is free.
• The Community Development Block Grant public hearing is scheduled for
Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in Council chambers.
• On Friday, August 27, 2010 the city will host an event at the big tent at the
Homecoming festival between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The theme will be North
Olmsted USO Salute the Veterans.
• Springvale has recently completed a draft of their long term capital project list.
He is currently working with the Finance Department to determine possible
funding sources for those projects deemed most significant.
• They are moving ahead with a number of projects that will be paid for by monies
saved from the passage of Issue 34. It is his intention for those projects to be in
the works within the next several weeks.
Director of Law Gareau:
• He has completed drafting the recommended Charter amendments for Council.
The Council President will give his report this evening regarding the Committee
of the Whole meeting in which the Final Report and Recommendation of the
Charter Review Commission was discussed. He is currently being prosecuted by the City of North Olmsted in the
Rocky River Municipal Court for telecommunications harassment.
• The Law Dept. has received no less than five inquiries from individuals seeking
applications to open cybercafes in North Olmsted. This is a good example of how
Council was out front on this particular issue; put the moratorium in place. About
six or seven cybercafes would have been open by now if that moratorium had not
been in effect.
3
