Council Minutes of OS-OS-2010 <br />~Y~4 <br />~~~'~ <br />• Patrolman Adamson is retiring from the Police Department on May 14th. He <br />appreciates his service to the community. <br />• Detectives Vagase and Fioritto will be attending an Internet Crimes Against <br />Children Training from May 11 through the May 14. All expenses for the <br />training are being assumed by the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office. <br />• Operation Medicine Cabinet will take place this Saturday, May 7 at the North <br />Olmsted Police Department between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon. <br />• Total Fire Department runs for the month of April totaled 327. This represents a <br />4% decline from the number of runs in April of 2009. <br />• The Household Hazardous Waste Round-up held from April 19 through May 2 <br />was successful. The fall round-up is scheduled for September 6 through <br />September 19. <br />• The Spring Brush round-up begins May 10. Residents who have brush are <br />encouraged to have it on their treelawns before May 10. Please be advised that <br />after brush pick upon May 10, the next pass will not be until September 13. <br />• Street repairs continue on Industrial Parkway. Heaved sections of concrete are <br />being removed and replaced making the pavement more drivable. Repairs have <br />also begun on the Barton Road and the I-480 overpass. Old broken asphalt is <br />being grinded off and replaced to improve the area. <br />• Bids were received and opened on Friday, April 30 for the 2010 Asphalt Overlay <br />on concrete streets project and the 2010 Asphalt Recycling/Reclamation on <br />asphalt streets project. The City Engineer is in the process of reviewing the bids. <br />• The Service Department planted several trees at the High School and one at the <br />Senior Center in celebration of Earth Day. <br />• Street sweeping continues. Interior streets are 75% complete. Work will continue <br />on the rest of the interiors, and then the main streets will be swept. <br />• The City continues to work closely on the issues surrounding Northwoods <br />Condominiums. The Building Department is compiling requested records relating <br />to its involvement with the engineer, architect and contractors for the Northwoods <br />project. The job is not yet closed out; however, a meeting to do so is scheduled <br />for next week. Final inspection will then be set to take place. In addition to the <br />Building Department's final inspection, the architect will be inspecting the work <br />and will create a punch list of outstanding items for the contractor to complete. <br />• This afternoon just before 1 p.m., North Olmsted lost its power supply. Afire at a <br />the CEI sub-station outside of the city caused the outage. Our firefighters <br />provided mutual aid and power was restored within approximately 1 hour. <br />• The Senior Center is in need of Meals on Wheels volunteers. If anyone is <br />interested, please call Tiffany Hunt at the Center. This commitment will require <br />only one hour a week of your time. <br />• This Friday at 1 p.m. at the Family Caregiver Support Group, a presentation will <br />be given on dementia. It will concentrate on tips and practical strategies for <br />caring for someone with memory loss. <br />• The Mother's Day brunch scheduled for this Sunday at Springvale has been <br />canceled due to a limited number of reservations. <br />2 <br /> <br />
