Council Minutes of 04-20-2010 <br />`;~:~-y <br />• They received notice that charges have been brought against the city in a civil <br />action concerning a traffic accident involving a police cruiser and an officer. The <br />matter has been turned over to the city's insurance defense counsel for processing. <br />• Ms. Jeannette DeGuire will be joining the Law Department this summer as a <br />Cleveland State University -Cleveland Marshall College of Law work study <br />student. <br />• He, the Safety Director and Finance Director met with representatives from the <br />Waste Water Treatment Plant to discuss the possibility of entering into <br />negotiations with Fairview Park and Olmsted Township concerning sewer fees. <br />• He advised the Mayor and Administration with respect to banners or any type of <br />communications expressed in the public right-of--way. There is a policy in place <br />and the Administration followed that policy. <br />• There are two issues outstanding with respect to collective bargaining agreements. <br />They expect AFSCME Clerical/Tech to sign their agreement tomorrow. The city <br />has just received comments back from the IAFF's attorney which will be <br />analyzed. <br />Finance Director Copfer: <br />• She said there are still problems with the Cleveland Division of Water's billing <br />process. She has escalated the problems North Olmsted residents have been <br />having to the Water Commissioner because the gentleman she's been dealing with <br />has no authority to resolve the problems. If any residents are having problems, <br />please contact her or her assistant, Donna Murphy. <br />Council President Limpert took a moment to recognize the accomplishments of Dr. Lisa <br />Thomas who resigned from the City of North Olmsted as Safety Director to accept the <br />position of City Manager in Galion, Ohio. <br />Councilman Barker, Chairman of the Finance Committee: <br />The Finance Committee met on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Present were <br />Committee members Barker, Kearney and Jones; Council members Brossard, Mahoney, <br />Orlowski, and Williamson; Council President Limpert; Mayor Kennedy; Finance <br />Director Copfer and Planning Director Wenger. <br />• Resolution 2010-44 is a Resolution authorizing the Mayor to purchase computer <br />servers, support hardware, software and a shared storage device through the State <br />Purchase Program; and further authorizing the Mayor to execute all documents <br />necessary to effectuate such purchase, and declaring an emergency. In 2009, <br />$158,500 was set aside for the replacement of servers. $35,000 was allocated in <br />the 2010 budget for additional replacements. Five servers will be replaced using <br />funds left over from last year and this year. The new servers are for E-mail, <br />archiving and storage.
