<br />Council Minutes of 11-15-2011 <br />~~ <br />• The North Olmsted Police Dept. assisted by the West Shore Enforcement Bureau <br />participated in the national Operation Medicine Cabinet on October 29, 2011. <br />One hundred twenty five pounds of prescription medication were dropped off for <br />the DEA to dispose of properly. <br />• Bulk trash will be picked up on residents' regulaz collection day during the first <br />full week of the month -the week of December 4, 2011. <br />• The second leaf collection pass has already begun. The first collection pass took <br />only ten days. Residents aze asked to get their leaves on the tree lawn as soon as <br />possible. <br />• To date, 753 catch basins and culverts have been cleaned. Repairs to broken <br />catch basins continue. The city continues to vacuum sanitary and sewer mains. <br />• This past Friday, VFT Post 7647 sponsored the local Veterans Day celebration. <br />This year's service was well attended by residents, students and azea veterans. <br />The city appreciates the extensive involvement of the VFW Post in our <br />community, and are truly grateful for their service they have given. <br />• The annual tree lighting ceremony will be held Monday, December 5, 2011 at <br />6:30 p.m. at Springvale. <br />• Golf course renovations at Springvale aze 99% complete. Minor landscaping is <br />the only item on the punch list that remains. <br />• The Recreation Center roof and dehumidification system replacement projects are <br />nearing completion. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• In the matter of Frantz vs. Springvale, a claim arising from an injury sustained <br />when a patron slipped and fell at Springvale, the final pretrial was held on <br />November 9, 2011. Mr. O'Malley attended on behalf of the city. The city's <br />request to dismiss the case on summary judgment was denied. Trial remains <br />scheduled for November 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. The city is prepazed to proceed if <br />necessary. <br />• On November 30, 2011 he represented the city at the Eugene Dzambasow vs. <br />Brian Bielozer, et al matter in Youngstown. There is a trial set for September 24, <br />2012 in Youngstown at 9:00 a.m. <br />• Today he participated with the Mayor and Directors in a preliminary management <br />meeting for upcoming negotiations with the FOP. <br />• There have been two new referrals to the Law Dept. for property maintenance <br />issues -one for a junk caz on site and another for an unlawful sign at a <br />commercial establishment. Warning letters have been issued. An insurance <br />adjustment has taken place regarding the burned home on Nantucket, and it <br />appears there has been some activity on that site. <br />Director of Finance Copfer: <br />• She sent a memo to Council on November 8, 2011 referencing her report to <br />Council - it says October 18 but it is really November 1. She wanted to correct a <br />misstatement at the last Council meeting where she reported what savings would <br />2 <br />,. <br />
