Council Minutes of 11-15-201 I
~: ;
RFP process was then followed and selected a labor negotiator that is an attorney. That is
the way the process works. Mayor Kennedy said to defend my Directors and negotiators,
they work extremely hard. You can tell over the last two years how much work they
have put in. Just because we have an outside negotiator doesn't mean the work stops for
us. We are at the table and behind the scenes doing everything we possibly can to lessen
the burden on the taxpayers with the cost of negotiations. You need, as the unions need -
and I wouldn't go to the police dept. or fire dept. and tell them to not have a professional
negotiator at the table -because they need one much like the taxpayers.
LEGISLATION
Ordinance 2011-108 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its third reading. Councilman Brossard made a
motion to suspend the rule requiring three readings. The motion was seconded by
Councilman Orlowski and passed unanimously.
Jeff Peepers asked if this would help alleviate flooding to help people regarding their
insurance. Councilman
Schumann said the map is put together by FEMA, and they do not give the city any
choice on whether to accept it or not. The way to get it changed is by filing a complaint
and it's very costly.
Councilman Brossard moved for adoption.
