x~ ~,_ MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED MAY 3, 2011 Present: Council Members Barker, Brossard Kearney, Mahoney, Schumann, Orlowski, Williamson Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Human Resources Farver, Director of Planning and Development Wenger Absent: President of Council Limpert Council President Pro-tem Mahoney called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes of the Council meeting of March 15, 2011 were approved as written. The minutes of the special Council meeting of April 12, 2011 were approved as written. The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules: First Reading -Ordinance 2011-62, Resolutions 2011-63, 2011-66, 2011-67 and 2011- 69. REPORTS Mayor Kennedy: • He congratulated Paul Schumann as he is North Olmsted's Citizen of the Year. • Chief Wozniak's last day of service will be Friday, May 6, 2011. He thanked him for his outstanding service to the citizens of North Olmsted and wished him the best in retirement. Chick-fil-A will be hosting a retirement breakfast at 9 a.m. on May 5, 2011. There will also be an open house at North Olmsted's VFW Hall on May 5, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. • North Olmsted's new Police Chief will be Jamie Gallagher. Jamie will be sworn in as Chief on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 10 a.m. in Council Chambers. • Over the last several weeks, he has interviewed three candidates for the position of Safety/Service Director. In the event Mr. Ritenauer can not return to his post, he will be selecting one of the candidates later this week. • The Squad Committee is finalizing their specifications for the purchase of the new squad. Recommendations will soon be forwarded to Administration and Council. • Applications for the position of Fire Administrator are being reviewed. Interviews will be conducted in the next few weeks.
