.x4*.
Council Minutes of 04-19-201 I
Springvale, $303,000 in improvements at the golf course -that's almost a half a million
dollars to improve Springvale. While all of these are well needed, I'm reluctant to
approve these measures because the cost of a police officer would be $55,000 plus
benefits. I would urge the Administration and my colleagues to at least replace Chief
Wozniak's position. My vote is yes as to 2011-39 with those comments. Roll Call
continued: Kearney, yes; Brossard, yes; Williamson, yes. Ordinance 2011-39 adopted 6-
1.
Ordinance 2011-40 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its second reading. An
Ordinance amending Section 139.99 of Chapter 139 of the Administrative Code entitled
"Department of Public Safety" in order to create the position of Administrative Assistant
within the Division of Fire, and declaring an emergency. Councilman Barker made a
motion to suspend the rule requiring three readings. The motion was seconded by
Councilman Schumann and passed unanimously.
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane said he doesn't know what the Fire Chief does all
day, but he has good reason to believe that he does not need an Administrative Assistant.
This is purely padding a workload and there is no reason to do this until you get
definitive answers as to what that guy does all day as Fire Chief. Councilman Barker
recommended that Lambert attend committee meetings and budget meetings to get all of
the details. Councilman Schumann said Directors Farver, Ritenauer, the Fire Chief and
the Mayor laid out a good case for this position. Lambert said the Fire Chief is a 24-hour
employee and he needs to do more and people need to look into what he's doing. Mayor
Kennedy said the Chief of Fire is a "one man show" and he needs assistance over there at
the Fire Dept.
Councilman Barker moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman
Schumann and passed unanimously. (Mahoney incorporated his former comments)
Ordinance 2011-40 adopted.
Ordinance 2011-41 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its second reading. An
Ordinance amending Section 167.99 of Chapter 167 of the Administrative Code entitled
"Department of Human Resources" in order to create the position of Help Desk
Coordinator within the Division of Information Technology, and declaring an emergency.
Councilman Barker made a motion to suspend the rule requiring three readings. The
motion was seconded by Councilman Kearney and passed unanimously. Councilman
Barker moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Kearney and
passed unanimously. (Mahoney incorporated his former comments) Ordinance 2011-41
adopted.
Resolution 2011-42 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its second reading. A
Resolution dispensing with the RFP process and authorizing the Mayor to enter into a one
year contract with Cuyahoga County/The Cuyahoga County Engineer for the purpose of
providing inspection services for bridges and culverts, and declaring an emergency.
Councilman Brossard made a motion to suspend the rule requiring three readings. The
motion was seconded by Councilman Kearney and passed unanimously. Councilman
12
... ,. ~, e,. nmk~+gsY^~x~a~oWln~.ta*fRY Y1r-~. _4"--.• - ~. - -
