f~, r,Mi <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />FEBRUARY 1, 2011 <br />Present: President of Council Limpert, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Jones, <br />Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski, Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, <br />Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Human Resources Farver, Director of <br />Public Safety and Public Service Ritenauer <br />Absent: Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Planning and Development <br />Wenger <br />President Limpert called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of January 15, 2010 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules: <br />Second Reading -Resolution 2011-4 and Ordinance 2011-5; First Reading -Resolution <br />2011-9 and 2011-10. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• On January 20, 2011 he gave his State of the City address. He thanked the <br />Radisson Hotel and the members of the Chamber of Commerce for hosting the <br />event. <br />• The Fact Finder upheld the Administration's position regarding the Simon <br />Cesareo grievance. The union's position was that Mr. Cesareo retired from the <br />City of North Olmsted to take a job as a police officer in Scottsdale, Arizona. The <br />City's position was that he resigned by virtue of a resignation letter. This was an <br />important decision for the City because it defines exactly when sick leave pay out <br />should be made. <br />• The Bureau of Workers Compensation has granted a renewal for the City's self- <br />insured program. <br />• Al Herman, Service Foreman, will retire effective April 29, 2011. He has been <br />with the City since 1975. <br />• The Fire Department responded to 331 incidents in January with 270 EMS and 7 <br />fire incidents. The fire incidents had a loss of $396,000.
