MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />~°' MAY 21, 2013 <br />Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Kearney, <br />Orlowski, Schumann and Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, <br />Clerk of Council Gallo Director of Safety/Service Thomas, Director of <br />Planning/Development Wenger and Director of Human Resources Farver <br />Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of May 7, 2013 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: Second Reading -Resolution 2013-44, Resolution 2013-48 and Ordinance <br />~^* 2013-50. <br />Councilman Barker made a motion to relieve Ordinances 2009-12, 2009-113 and 2010- <br />108 from committee. The motion was seconded by Councilman Schumann and passed <br />unanimously. Ordinances 2009-12, 2009-113 and 2010-108 relieved from committee 6- <br />0. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• The City was awarded additional Storm Water Improvement Fund (SWIF) grant <br />dollars for a bioretention project in the parking lot at Springvale. The funding, <br />amounting to $47,772, was awarded to the City by the EPA as an extension of the <br />North Olmsted Park project which was constructed in 2012. <br />• The City made a presentation to ODOT's safety funding committee on Friday, <br />May 17 regarding its application for funding for Great Northern Blvd. <br />improvements. Based on positive feedback from the committee, we anticipate to <br />be officially awarded our request of $1,172,250 toward safety and efficiency <br />improvements in the Great Northern corridor. <br />• We experienced an approximately two acre fire in the debris and leaves in the <br />metro parks just across fram the Forestville area, on the morning of May 6cn <br />There was also a house fire on the west side of town on Lorain Road past Barton <br />~.. Road. The house fire resulted in a total loss, but the residents made it out of the <br />' house alive. <br />
