MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ~°' MAY 21, 2013 Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Kearney, Orlowski, Schumann and Williamson Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, Clerk of Council Gallo Director of Safety/Service Thomas, Director of Planning/Development Wenger and Director of Human Resources Farver Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes of the Council meeting of May 7, 2013 were approved as written. The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules this evening: Second Reading -Resolution 2013-44, Resolution 2013-48 and Ordinance ~^* 2013-50. Councilman Barker made a motion to relieve Ordinances 2009-12, 2009-113 and 2010- 108 from committee. The motion was seconded by Councilman Schumann and passed unanimously. Ordinances 2009-12, 2009-113 and 2010-108 relieved from committee 6- 0. REPORTS Mayor Kennedy: • The City was awarded additional Storm Water Improvement Fund (SWIF) grant dollars for a bioretention project in the parking lot at Springvale. The funding, amounting to $47,772, was awarded to the City by the EPA as an extension of the North Olmsted Park project which was constructed in 2012. • The City made a presentation to ODOT's safety funding committee on Friday, May 17 regarding its application for funding for Great Northern Blvd. improvements. Based on positive feedback from the committee, we anticipate to be officially awarded our request of $1,172,250 toward safety and efficiency improvements in the Great Northern corridor. • We experienced an approximately two acre fire in the debris and leaves in the metro parks just across fram the Forestville area, on the morning of May 6cn There was also a house fire on the west side of town on Lorain Road past Barton ~.. Road. The house fire resulted in a total loss, but the residents made it out of the ' house alive.
