:~ <br />Whereas: Ken Neuzil has been actively involved with the City of North Olmsted for <br />many years in both the schools and the Kiwanis Club; and <br />Whereas: Ken was a teacher at North Olmsted High School for 38 years, retiring in <br />2004; and <br />Whereas: Ken taught a wide variety of classes under the Social Studies Program. <br />He was the Social Studies Department Chair and organized the Social <br />Studies Senior project program. Ken was part of a team to ensure the <br />Social Studies curriculum was in step with the tests at various grade <br />levels; and <br />Whereas: While at North Olmsted High School, Ken was head Cross Country <br />Coach and Assistant Track Coach. Ken continues to be involved in the <br />schools' SITES program, Key Club, Cross Country and Track teams. <br />Ken started the Kindergarten Project that provides school supply kits to <br />every child starting school in North Olmsted; and <br />Whereas: Ken served as the President of the Kiwanis Club for two consecutive <br />terms, from 2010-2012. He currently serves on the Board of the 14tH <br />Division of Kiwanis International. Ken organizes the Kiwanis 5k run held <br />during Homecoming Weekend to raise money for scholarship funds. <br />Ken volunteers at the NOBOB/Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast that benefits <br />the NOHS Band and Music program; and <br />Whereas: In April of this year, Ken was recognized as Kiwanis Hero of the Year for <br />his involvement in their committees and activities; and <br />Whereas: Ken is a North Olmsted Community Council Director. He also volunteers <br />as a tutor for students attending Cuyahoga Community College; and <br />Whereas: Ken still finds the time to be the family painter. He enjoys reading fiction, <br />daily exercise at the Berea Rec Center, and watching the Browns, Cavs, <br />Indians and Ohio State ball games; and <br />Whereas: Above all, Ken enjoys spending time with his wife Mary, his children, <br />step-children and grandchildren. <br />Now, therefore I, Kevin M. Kennedy, Mayor of the City of North Olmsted, on behalf of our <br />community, do hereby recognize with honor Ken Neuzil and commend him on his outstanding <br />achievements and dedicated service to our community. <br />In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my <br />hand and cause the Seal of the City of North <br />Olmsted to be affixed this 14tH day of May, <br />2013. <br /> <br />Mayor Kevin M.
