May 7, 2013
Dear President of Council, all members .of Council and Mayor Kennedy and his
Administration:
Due to my health condition, I am resigning my position as North Olmsted City Council
Member at-Large effective May 8, 2013. I am saddened to leave City Council and so
many friends.
I would like to thank Mayor Kennedy, Finance Director Copfer and Law Director Gareau
for their superior manner in which they have advanced the City of North Olmsted. Their
creative policies have moved the city forward on so many fronts that I cannot describe all
of them in this short letter. I am proud to have served with you and have been part of the
transformation of this city. I especially enjoyed working with Director of Planning and
Development, Kim Wenger, when I served on Planning Commission and as the Chairman
of the Building, Zoning & Development Committee. She is simply the best!
To my fellow colleagues, I cannot describe enough how much I have enjoyed working
with all of you and how much I appreciate you being there for me during my prior
medical issue. First, I would like to thank Kevin Kearney for providing me with
transportation from work to my home for nearly two years. I don't know a man with a
bigger heart than Kevin Kearney. I would also like to recognize Paul Barker for
providing transportation to and from the Cleveland Clinic downtown every day for six
weeks during my radiation treatment. I commend and thank my long-time friend, Angela
Williamson, for her advice, support and guidance which have been immeasurable. In
terms of the support from Clerk of Council, Marie Gallo, I could not say more about our
fine Clerk. Lastly I am saddened at the loss of the opportunity to work with new
President of Council Nicole Dailey Jones. I would have liked to witness her graceful
leadership as she continues hex career in politics. And for anyone that I have neglected to
thank this evening, please know that your work, efforts, and kind words during my health
issues are deeply appreciated.
Sincerely,
Mark Mahoney
