MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MARCH 19, 2013 <br />Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Kearney, <br />Orlowski, Schumann and Williamson <br />Also Present: Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, Clerk of Council <br />Gallo, Director of Planning/Development Wenger and Director of Human <br />Resources Farver <br />Absent: Council Member Mahoney <br />Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of February 5, 2013 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: Second Reading -Ordinance 2013-28, Resolutions 2013-29 & 2013-31; <br />First Reading -Ordinance 2013-33. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• The Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District has awarded the City of North <br />Olmsted a 2013 Community Recycling Awareness Grant in the amount of <br />$5,000. Secretaries Renee Overstreet and Coletta Strippy applied for the grant to <br />allow for funds to purchase yard waste bags for the city's Yard Waste Program, <br />and the cost associated with an informational mailer and postage to increase <br />recycling awareness and community recycling opportunities for our residents. <br />• The Police Dept. installed the Live Scan fingerprint device which allows officers <br />to eliminate the ink rolled fingerprints. The booking officer rolls the finger onto a <br />scanner which scans the print electronically. After the prints are taken, the <br />program will tell the officer if the fingerprints are acceptable to be submitted to <br />BCI. Only one set of prints need to be taken instead of several inked cards being <br />created. Once officers are trained, this will eliminate finger print cards that <br />cannot be accepted due to smudged inked rolled prints. In the future, when the <br />State of Ohio begins their program, the live scan will allow an unknown arrestee <br />to be identified immediately by scanning both thumbs if they have been arrested <br />and their prints are on file.
