Council Minutes of 03-19-2013 <br />arrest can be uploaded to the scanned prints and sent to BCI. This eliminates <br />,.:,, <br />;~. double entries by the police department. <br />• The County has awarded the Columbia Road Rehabilitation Project from <br />Butternut Ridge Road to Lorain Road to Chagrin Valley Paving, Inc. The project <br />is being financed using Federal, State, County and city funds. The County <br />Department of Public Works will administer the project providing oversight and <br />inspection throughout construction. The project contract period is April 1, 2013 <br />through September 6, 2013. Residents will start receiving notifications in late <br />March. Should residents have questions related to the project, they may contact <br />the County Division of Public Works Construction Department at 216-348-3838. <br />• The Landmarks Commission will be holding a public hearing on Tuesday, March <br />26 at 6:15 p.m. for the purpose of presenting research and recommendation for the <br />landmarking of the Charles Alden Seltzer house located at 30095 Lorain Road. <br />Learn about this unique house and the man who built it: a two-term mayor of <br />North Olmsted during the 1930's and a prolific author of westerns, many of which <br />were made into Hollywood films. <br />• The Recreation Center is hosting the Annual Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt Event on <br />Saturday, March 30 from 10:00 a.m. until noon at North Olmsted Park. Register <br />for the event and the coloring contest now through March 27, 2013 at the <br />Recreation Center. There will be refreshments and fun activities for the children. <br />• This year, the city has already reached Fish Fry sales nearing $15,000.00. <br />Kiwanis is hosting the Fish Fry this Friday, and there will be a special visitor for <br />,.~. the children. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• He shared some statistics from 2012 for work that has taken place in Rocky River <br />Municipal Court. In 2010, the city had 69 felonies which dropped to 56 in 2011 <br />and remained low at 52 in 2012. The misdemeanors written under the State Code <br />went from 643 in 2010 down to 536 in 2011 and jumped back up to 710 in 2012. <br />State traffic tickets written under the State Code was 428 in 2012, but 8,130 total <br />tickets for traffic under the city's Ordinances. The most cited felony in North <br />Olmsted was theft. The most common misdemeanor statute written under the <br />State Code in 2012 was also theft. The most cited misdemeanor statue under the <br />city's Ordinances in 2012 was disorderly conduct by virtue of intoxication. The <br />most commonly cited Ordinance for the City of North Olmsted for traffic offenses <br />was speed. The most common traffic State statute was OVI's. Overall traffic and <br />criminal cases for North Olmsted was 8,856 in 2012. That is an increase from <br />7,931 in 2011. <br />Director of Finance Copfer <br />• There are two items the city should be keeping track of. The federal government <br />is looking to minimize or eliminate the municipal income tax exemption on <br />investments. She provided information to the Mayor, and she would like to have <br />legislation on the agenda for the next Council meeting to urge the city's <br />representatives to not do this. Also, the city is still dealing with House Bill 5. <br />The state legislature has not had any committee meetings or public hearings for a <br />2 <br />
