MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />NOVEMBER 7, 2012 <br />Present: President of Council Limpert; Council Members Barker, Brossard, <br />Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski, Schumann, Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, <br />Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety/Service Thomas, Director of <br />Planning/Development Wenger, Director of Human Resources Farver <br />President Limpert called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of September 18, 2012 and the special Council <br />meeting of October 23, 2012 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: First Reading -Resolution 2012-111, Ordinance 2012-112, & Resolution <br />2012-115. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• The Service Department responded to over 600 calls for various reasons due to <br />super storm Sandy. There were 7,198 businesses and residences without power. <br />Rainfall from Super-storm Sandy began on October 26 and lasted through <br />November 1, 2012. Regional (airport) reported 7.29 inches: NEORSD North <br />Olmsted station 8.92 inches, and Dover Lift Stations recorded up to 9.5 inches of <br />ram. <br />• The Board of Control awarded the Citywide Signal System design engineering <br />project to URS Corporation last week. <br />• The Bureau of Workers' Compensation granted the City the ability to continue <br />our self-insured program for 2013. The City has been self-insured since 2009 <br />which provides a cash flow savings of approximately $300,000 annually. <br />• Patrolman Frank Chung resigned from the NOPD. His last day is November 16, <br />2012. He served 12 years with the North Olmsted Police Dept. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• He has been in the process of reviewing various contracts. The West Shore <br />,,, Enforcement Bureau provides various tactical services in emergency situations. <br />;,; One of those services they provide is the bomb unit. They would like to expand <br />
