Council Minutes of 10-16-2012
numbers, and have turned in the information to CEI. CEI is responsible for the
..,6., maintenance of the poles and lights as they own them. The city will continue to push the
,, CEI to take care of the lights. Thomas said he has photographs of the storm drain at the
intersection, and it is approximately two and a half inches. It can possibly be raised an
inch in the future.
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane said the city pays the electric bill whether they're
working or not, so the city really needs to lean on CEI since they are not generating
electricity but we're still paying for them. Lambert said when there was a power failure
in 2004 or 2005, most utility companies in the Cleveland area were caught off guard
including the water dept. which could no longer operate their pumps. North Olmsted had
running water because of the water tower on Dover Center. If they are going to do work
on the tower, will it affect the water service in North Olmsted? Mayor Kennedy said the
water tower is used for back up right now. He believes it's filled up. Limpert said there
is water in the tower.
Jeff Sturgeon, 3092 W. 231 said at the top of Bailey Road, there is a building that Ganley
took over. If you walk by and look in the windows, you can see them doing body work
in there. If it's not a real windy day, you can smell them doing the work/paint. His son
called the city, and the city sent someone out to look. He never heard back from the city,
so he doesn't know what came of it. Mayor Kennedy said he will follow up on this.
Sturgeon said regarding the water tower, he suggested making the colors orange and
black and maybe have the city's name on it. Councilman Mahoney said the water tower
is owned by the city of Cleveland water dept., so putting "North Olmsted" on it is not an
option. The color is federal aviation red, and because it complies with the federal
aviation requirements it will be kept the same. Councilman Orlowski said when Ganley
took over the property, he was presented with information that it was going to be a detail
shop. No one said anything about them doing body work there. Sturgeon said they are
doing body work there. Councilman Orlowski said he does not believe there is a proper
ventilation system for body work.
Pam Jankowski, new Branch Manager of the North Olmsted branch of the Cuyahoga
County Public Library System introduced herself to Council and the Administration.
LEGISLATION
Resolution 2012-81 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its third reading. A
Resolution authorizing the Mayor, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted, to enter into a
municipal agency agreement with the Cuyahoga County Land Reutilization Corporation,
and declaring an emergency. Councilman Mahoney moved for adoption. The motion
was seconded by Councilman Kearney and passed unanimously. Resolution 2012-81
adopted.
Ordinance 2012-76 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its second reading. An
Ordinance amending and re-establishing Chapter 927 of the Streets, Utilities and Public
Services Code entitled "Storm Water Management and Urban Pollution Abatement
Systems" in order to implement new standards for storm water collection and
management within the City of North Olmsted, as amended.
4
