MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL ;,,;~ OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED FEBRUARY 7, 2012 Present: President of Council Limpert; Council Members Barker, Brossard, Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski, Schumann, Williamson Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Planning and Development Wenger, Director of Safety and Service Thomas, and Director of Human Resources Farver Absent: Clerk of Council Gallo President Limpert called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The following legislation will be considered for suspension of the rules this evening: Second Reading -Resolution 2012-6; First Reading -Resolution 2012-8 REPORTS Mayor Kennedy: • An Ordinance pertaining to the city's trash collection policy, 2012-5, is on the agenda this evening for first reading. This proposal was discussed at last week's Environmental Control Committee meeting where several questions were asked by residents. He has answered those questions, and the answers were forwarded to Council and the residents who had come to City Hall for that issue. • Rocky River and Bay Village have experience unusually high numbers of daytime burglaries over the last three months. Although North Olmsted has not experienced burglaries at this volume, residents should be very vigilant in their neighborhoods and report any unusual people or activities they may see in their neighborhoods. • Officers completed the changeover to Glock weapons. This was necessary because of the age of the Berettas and the inability to find replacement parts for them. The weapons were purchased with seized money from drug related arrests and forfeitures. • North Olmsted Police Dept. firearms instructors, in conjunction with surrounding cities, participated in an instructional training update session organized by the City of Lakewood. The WEB Police Chiefs are beginning to share officer training in an effort to reduce costs. This month, auxiliary officers from North
