MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />""~ SEPTEMBER 17, 2013 <br />Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Kearney, Orlowski, <br />Schumann, Williamson and Smith <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, <br />Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety/Service Thomas, Director of <br />Planning/Development Wenger and Director of Human Resources Farver <br />Absent: Council Member Brossard <br />Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The Council meeting minutes of August 6, 2013 were approved as written. <br />No legislation will be considered under suspension of the rules this evening. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• He and Kevin Lynch from AT&T hosted a "IT Can Wait" informational assembly <br />for our employees to learn about the dangers of texting while driving. It was very <br />well received by the employees and contained powerful examples of how texting <br />while driving can change people's lives forever. Thank you to Mr. Lynch a,id <br />AT&T for providing this program to our employees. <br />• In cooperation with the Cleveland Food Bank and the city's Oxcart Pantry, 32,000 <br />pounds of fresh produce was distributed during June, July and August to families <br />in need. Avery special thank you to John Knox Church for hosting this summer <br />program. <br />• The September 11 t" memorial service was held at Fire Station No. 1. There was a <br />very nice turnout. Thank you to Dave Demaline and the Service Dept. for their <br />help with this. <br />• The new tennis and gymnastic space opened on September 9t" at the Recreation <br />Center. The space looks great and patrons seem happy with it. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• Last week the Law Dept assisted the Administration in obtaining an <br />administrative search warrant to inspect the interior of a residential premise in the <br />City of North Olmsted at 23975 Mastick. The property is not currently occupied, <br />and the purpose of the inspection was to determine the structural integrity and <br /> <br />
