MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JUNE 18, 2013 <br />Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Kearney, <br />Orlowski, Schumann and Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, <br />Clerk of Council Gallo Director of Safety/Service Thomas, Director of <br />Planning/Development Wenger and Director of Human Resources Farver <br />Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The Council meeting minutes of May 21, 2013 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be passed under suspension of the rules this evening: First <br />Reading -Resolution 2013-58. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• Relay for Life of North Olmsted is this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the North <br />Olmsted High School Track. <br />• Bids will be received for the North Olmsted Police Station project on June 28, <br />2013. The project is anticipated to begin toward the end of July and will be <br />completed by the end of the year. <br />• On June 5 the city had a swearing in ceremony for the new Police Captain, <br />Ronald E. Cox. Two new Police Officers, Oliver Wolcott and Arthur Ventura III, <br />were sworn in on June 10 as well. Welcome and congratulations to these <br />gentlemen. <br />• Thru a collaborative effort with the Oxcart Pantry, the Cleveland Food Bank and <br />John Knox Church the Produce to the People Program will be offered again this <br />year. The first distribution was yesterday and two more are scheduled for July 15 <br />and August 19. The program is open to any individual or family in need in the <br />Westshore area. In 2012, 480 families were served and 33,000 pounds of produce <br />were distributed. <br />• At their meeting last night, the Civil Service Commission authorized a test for the <br />position of Police Sergeant to be administered in the Fall. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />~=; • There are three arbitrations that remain pending within the Law Dept. for various <br />union matters - an employee discipline matter with the F.O.P., a dispute with <br />~. <br />
