Council Minutes of 9/7!93 <br />McRay and. concerned residents. Resident of Pheasant's Walk and Forest Ridge <br />developments have been asking for mounding, fencing and trees along the right-of- <br />way. The county. has said that tt~re are no funds available. The Federal <br />Government has been asked to step in and provide funding for theme purposes under <br />the Intermodal Transportation Act . Since the coumty ax~i O~E7T have slated this <br />for 1995 or 1996, we will have to wait to see what Federal funding will be <br />available. Because of the different problems for residents north and south of <br />Lorain, two more meetings will be held. <br />After the general meeting, a meting was held with residents on the south side of <br />Lorain Road. Mr. Nashe~r h+~d made re ndations to ODOT asxl Mr. Dice asking for <br />for relocation fusr~d.s for these residents. (~30T and the County Ea~gneer have said <br />there is not money available for such a purpose. They feel it is up to the city <br />to address the issue of rezoning the property. At the next meeting with the <br />residents, their sustions/rec tions on the re~onin$ issue will be <br />discussed. On another issue, the residents are c~r~erned with the beck-uP of <br />traffic on Stearns Road by vehicles attempting to make a right turn onto Lorain <br />Road. They would like to have a right torn only lane on Stearns Road. The <br />county representatives indicat~*ci that the county might be able to provide a SOX <br />share of the funds needed for such a project. <br />2) Butternut Ridge Road will be closed from September 14 t}arouh Sept~nber 17 <br />from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for reconstruction work. The work will not interfere <br />with school bus traffic. <br />3) Residents living near the high school have ~~ that students leaving <br />the parking lot are speeding on the streets. (~rrce the street construction work <br />is completed. in that area, we will ask the Police Departtm~nt to monitor the <br />situation. <br />Mr. Musial, Chairperson of the Recreation, Public Parks ar~d Buildings Ccm~tttee, <br />reported: l) The committee met on August 25. In attendance were Council Members <br />Bahas, Nashar, Musial, Lind anti Beringer. The following was discussedr <br />a. Resolution 93-105, which .authorizes the Director of Public Service to <br />advertise for bids for site improve+~nts at the Recreation Center. Am€mg the <br />improvements will be correcting the drainage problem, resurfacing the parking <br />lot, and installing lighting. The committee recommended approval. <br />No Audience Participation <br />LEGISLATION <br />Reno uton No. 93-97 irftroduced by Mr. McKay was given its third reading. A <br />resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for and accept <br />bids for the construction of Wastewater Treatment Plant improvements (Bid Package <br />##2) at the Wastewater Treatment Plant as detailed in the specificaticans ~ file, <br />and authorizing the Mayor to contract for same, and declaring an emergency.
