MII~`l'ES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF I~DRTH OLMSTED <br />JUNE 1, 1993 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Babas, Leonard, Lind, <br />McKay, Musial, Nashar <br />Also Present: Mayor Fd Boyle, Finance Director James Burns, Clerk of Council <br />Barbara Semen <br />Absent: Council Member Saringer <br />Council President Boehsner called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. in Covncil <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the a~rodience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the meeting of May 18, 1993 were approved as written. <br />The minutes of the special meeting of May 17, 1993 were approved as written. <br />President Boetuner announced that Ordinance No. 93-73 would be passed under <br />suspension of the rules. <br />Mayor Boyle presented a proclamation to Richard Felgemacher of the Rocky River <br />Power Squadron in recognition of Safe Boating Week, June 6 through June 13. <br />Mayor Boyle presented a proclamation to the 1992 Safety Citizen of the Year, <br />Clifford S. Turocy. Mr. Turocy assisted the North 0].msted Police Department in <br />the apprehension of a thief. Patrolman Russ King presented a plaque to Mr. <br />Turocy on behalf the Police Department. <br />Mayor Boyle presented a proclamation and a Key to the City to the 1993 Citizen of <br />the Year, Fred Hatton. Mr. Hatton has been a North Olmaated resident since 1930, <br />has served as the treasurer and a volunteer at the North Olmsted Baptist Church <br />for 20 years, was the organizer and past-president of North Olmsted High School's <br />first athletic boosters club, and. has served as a volunteer at the Senior Center <br />for marry years. The Mayor coatnended and congratulated Mr. Hatton on this honor <br />and wished him continued health, happiness and success. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) The Pledge of Allegiance Association will celebrate <br />Flag Day, June 14, by a group. recitation of the. Pledge at 7 p.m., Ft. McHenry, <br />Virginia. Americans throughout the country will hold similar ceremonies at the <br />same time. The North OLnsted ceremony will be held outside of the Penney's <br />entrance of Great Northern Mall. <br />2) The NOSO Cup tournament will be held during the month of July. St . John' s <br />Westshore Hospital has volunteered to provide free medical services for the <br />participants and spectators. <br />3) The next Town Hall meeting will be held at Maple Elementary School in Ward II <br />at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 10. <br />4) The data processing proposal is being prepared and will probably be ready for <br />presentation to Council at the June 15 meeting. <br /> <br />
