MINUTES OF THE MEETII~ OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MAY 18, 1993 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Babas, McKay, Musial <br />Nashar, Beringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Ed Boyle., Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director <br />James Burns, Clerk of Council Barbara Semen <br />Absent: Council Members Leonard and Lind <br />Council President Boe~er called the meeting to order at 8:02 p.m. in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was led by the 1993 Honorary Scout Officials. <br />The minutes of the meeting of Wednesday, May 5, 1993, were approved as written. <br />President Boehmer announced that Ordinance No. 93-76 would be added to the <br />agenda. Mr. Boehmer welcomed Cadette members of Girl Scout Troops 1067 and 1980. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) Lois Zolar has been appointed to the Civil Service <br />Commission, which brings the Commission to full strength. <br />2) City Hall employees are collecting old phone books which will be donated to <br />the Metro Parks Zoo where the books are shredded and used for bedding. <br />3) This past week, J. C. Penney held a food drive and collected two pick-up <br />trucks of food which was donated to the city food cupboard. The food will be <br />distributed through the Human Resources Department. <br />4) On May 7, a meeting of Directors and Division Heads was held to re-examine the <br />expenditure control budget instituted this year. This new budget approach seems <br />to be working well. <br />5) On May 5, a meeting was held with several architectural firms being considered <br />for the senior housing project. <br />6) With Law Director Gareau and Service Director Bohlmasm, met with MalcoLn <br />Pirnie, Wastewater Treatment Plant engineers, to review design changes. Although <br />most of the design criteria will be mandated by the Ohio EPA, there are projects <br />that can be accomplished at the present time and still be within those EPA <br />standards. <br />7) On May 14, .the Senior Center celebrated Volunteer Day by recognizing people <br />who have volunteered their services to senior citizens. Mr. Jack Kiuchi was <br />recognized as the autstatuling volunteer. <br />8) Earth Arbor Day was celebrated on May 14 by planting trees in the historic row <br />at North OLnsted Park. <br />9) Mr. Ronald Tober of RTA will be visiting NOMBL tomorrow to help celebrate "Try <br />Transit Week." <br />10) The Chamber of Commerce will be installing new officers on Thursday, May 20. <br />Mr. Pat Graham will be the new president. <br /> <br />
