Mrs. Beringer moved for suspension of the rules requiring three <br />readings arxi committee review; second by Mrs. Babas; motion passed ursanimou$ly. <br />Resident Robert Strned asked why this legislation requrexl an emergency clause <br />and was told that the budget will soon be voted on in Colu~rus ani time is of the <br />essence. Mrs. Beringer moved for adoption; second by Mrs. Babas; motion Wised <br />unanimously. Resolution No. 93-74 adopted. <br />Ordinance No. 93-75 was introduced by Mr. McKay on behalf of Mayor Boyle. An <br />ordinance amending Ordinance No. 93-22 entitled "An ordinance adopting a new and <br />revised 521.10 of Chapter 521 entitled "Health, Safety and Senitatic~n," which new <br />and revised section shall be entitled "Non-smoking Areas in Places of Public <br />Assembly aixi Public Buildings, as a~me~ed" by mcitiing thereto provisions for <br />permitting smoking in specific areas of the Police Department. <br />Ordinance No. 93-76 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mrs, Beringer. <br />An ordinance atnendi.x~g paragraph (B) of Section 137.01 of the Ccxlif~l Ordinances <br />for the City of North Olmsted concerning the composition of the Law Detanent <br />and declaring an emergency. Mrs. Beringer moved for suspension of the rules <br />requiring three r®ad.ings and. caenmittee review; second by Mrs. Babas; oration <br />passed unanimously. Resident Robert Strnad asked for an expl~stion of this <br />legislation. It was explained that a provision is needed to appoint an Acting <br />Prosecutor, with a salary commensurate with the respcansibilites, when the <br />Prosecutor is ill or unable to perform his duties. Mrs. Ssrngear moved for <br />adoption; second by Mrs. Babas; motion passed unanimously. Ordinance No. 93-76 <br />adopted. <br />Miscellaneous Business <br />Mrs. cringer mov to adjourn into executive session to discuss the purchase of <br />property; second by Mrs. Babas; motion passed unanimously. Council adjourned <br />into executive session at 9:24 p.m. <br />Council reconvened at 10:10 p.m. <br />Mr. McKay scheduled an Environmental Coatrol meeting for Wednesday, May 26, at <br />7:30 p.m. and requested that Mayor Boyle attend. <br />Mr. Nashar moved to excuse the absence of Council Members Leonard and Lind; <br />second by Mr. Musial; motion passed unanimously. <br />With the agenda being completed and there being no further business to cane <br />before Council, President Boehmer adjourned the meeting at 10:12 p.m. <br />~ ~ ~ <br />Barbara L.
