MINUTES OF TH'E MEETING OF TEIE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MAY 5, 1993 <br />Present: Council President Boetmier, Council Members Bahas, Leonard, Lind <br />Musial, Nashar, Beringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Ed Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Finance Director <br />James Burns, Clerk of Council Barbara Semen <br />Absent: Council Member McKay <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:07 p.m. in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the special meeting of April 19, 1993 were approved as written. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of April 20, 1993 were approved as written. <br />Mr. Boehmer announced that the following pieces of legislation had been added to <br />the agenda: Ordinance Nos. 93-68 and 93-72; Resolution Nos. 93-69, 93-70 and <br />93-71. The following legislation would be passed under suspension of the rules: <br />Ordinance Nos. 93-52, 93-64, 93-65, 93-66, 93-67, 93-68; Resolution Nos. 93-53, <br />93-62, 93-69. <br />Mayor Boyle presented a proclamation to Theresa Wright, legislative advocate for <br />Concerned Motorcycle Riders of Ohio, recognizing May as motorcycle Awareness <br />Month. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) On March 15, a fire on LeBern caused $70,000 in damages <br />to a single family home. The Human Resources Department was able to find. <br />temporary quarters for the family. This past weekend, the Human Resources <br />Department coordinated a group of 30 volunteers who helped renovate the home so <br />that the family could move back in. <br />2) The North Olmsted Kiwanis Club, in cooperation with the Human Resources <br />Department, built a ramp at the home of a recently handicapped resident. <br />3) The North Olmsted Schools have invited Human Resources Director Don Copeland, <br />Recreation Commissioner Tom Fattlar and Mayor Boyle to attend the Co~aanity <br />Education Association annual meeting in Columbus on Monday, May 10. The city <br />officials were invited. in recognition of the spirit of cooperation exhibited <br />between the school system aril the city government. After extensive review of all <br />cities in the State, the Association had determined that the North Olmsted <br />schools and .city government had the best relationship in the State. <br />4) Earth Arbor Day will be celebrated on May 14. In celebration of this day, <br />school children will be collecting aluminum products which will be picked up by <br />Browning-Ferris Industries at no cost. BFI will bale the materials and resell <br />them. They will then turn the money aver to the children who will donate it to <br />the children's burn unit. Also an that day, Superintendent Dennis Allen and <br />Mayor Boyle will plant a tree in the historic grove at North Olmsted Park. <br />F <br />
