<br />MINUTES OF T[iE MEETING OF TfB; COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTID <br />JANUARY 19, 1993 <br />Present: Council President Boei~ner, Council Members Leonard, Lind, McKay, <br />Musial, Nashar, Saringer. <br />Also Present: Law Director Michael Garesu, Finance Director Jas Burns, Clerk <br />of Council .Barbara Seman. <br />Absent: Council Member Bahas. <br />Council President Boehsner called the meeting to order at 8:14 p.m. in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />Mr. Musial made the following corrections to the minutes of the special Council <br />meeting of December 28, 1992: page one, fifth line from the bottom, "...a~xl Mr. <br />Musial will prepare costs acxl figures for their proposals before the appropriate <br />legislation is passed", changed to, "...the Mayor will contact NASA to see what <br />NASA can do for us"; page two, tenth line down, "...proposal, the Mayor's or Mr. <br />Musial's would be the best atycl fund it", changed. to, "...which survey, through <br />NASA or otherwise, would be the best and fund. it." The minutes were approved as <br />corrected. <br />The minutes of the special Council meeting of December 29, 1992 were approved as <br />written. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of January 5, 1993 were approved as written. <br />Service Director Bohlmann reported for Mayor Boyle: 1) Mayor Boyle is attending <br />the U. S. Conference of Mayors in Washington D. C. this week. The Mayor is a <br />national chairperson of a sub-commi,.ttee on taxes. Topics to be covered during <br />the conference include the Great Lakes Water Quality Initiative and urban <br />econanic policies on transportation, infrastructure and taxes. Also, Mayor Boyle <br />will be meeting with members of the in-coming Clinton cabinet. <br />2) On Monday, January 11, Mayor Boyle swore in a new patrolman, Kenneth Vagase, <br />to replace Capt. Lee Scott who will retire later this month. In order to man- <br />tain safety and continuity in the commuiity, this Administration has adopted a <br />policy of replacing retiring officers before the actual date of retirement. <br />3) Mayor Boyle, Service Director Bohlmatm, N()MSL Manager Mues aril. Opera- <br />tions Manager Terbraek met with RTA Manager Toter and his staff to discuss the <br />proposed service cuts. Tt was a fruitful meeting where all involved showed a <br />spirit of cooperation aryd a working partnership was established. N~IBL should be <br />informed by the first week of February what cuts will be made. NFL drivers <br />recently presented Mr. Tuber with comments, suggestions and complaints gathered <br />from riders and residents; and Mr. Tuber has promised to review and add then to <br />the public record. <br />4) 'the North OLnsted School Board has agreed to the income tax sharing program <br />which was recently adopted by Council. The first project in this progren will be <br />Moen Corporation. <br />t <br />
