Council Minutes of 9/20/94 <br />Mr. Nashar, Chairperson of the Public Safety, Heahh and Welfare Gamtee, reported: <br />1) The committee met on Aday, September 12. Tn attendance were Council Members <br />Limpert, Saringer, McKay, Musial, Lmd, Nashar and Safety Director Kasler. The <br />committee discussed ce 94-117, which proves for the installation of `~+to <br />Parking" signs to be placed on portions of LeBern Drive. The committee had no <br />objections and recommended approval. <br />2) The committee met on Tuesday, September 20, to discuss the following liquor permits: <br />a. Transfer of a DSB and D6 permit from Fairview Lounge, Inc., DBA P. J. McIntyres <br />Irish Pub and Restaurant, Unit A 135, 1st ftaor and loft, 5281 Great Northern Mall to <br />Spaghetti Co., #2 Inc., DBA Spa ' Co., Unit A 135, 1st floor and loft, 5281 Great <br />Northern Mall. Mr. Nashar moved that Council have no objection to this transfer; second <br />by Mrs. Bahas; motion passed unanimoualy. <br />b. Anew DS liquor perm for Angus Tavern Inc., 30791 Lorain Road. Mr. Nashar <br />moved that Council have no objection to the liquor permit; second by Mr. Limpert; <br />motion passed unanimously. <br />c. Anew D1 liquor permit for Jou 8c Kao Inc., DBA Szechwan Gourmet, 24111 Lorain <br />Road. Mr. Nashar noted that there are two different permit holders at this same address, <br />and Council does object to this. However, a reprasattative of the State Departmeat of <br />Liquor Control will look into this matter. Mr. Nashar moved to have no objection to the <br />liquor permit, noting that the State vvdl iavesbigate the reason for two permit holders at the <br />same address; second by Mr. Limpert; motion passed unanimously. <br />3) Mr. Nashar commented on the following topics that were discussed at the Mayor's <br />Town Hall meeting which was held in Ward 3 on September 14: <br />a. Flaodmg problems, especially on McKenzie Road. Mr. Bohlmann said the Service <br />Impartment crews would be working on this problem and would pay special attention to <br />the drainage ditches along McKenzie Road. <br />B. Airplane noise over the city. This is the result of runway renovations which will not be <br />completed until mid-November. <br />C. Loud train whistles in the middle of the night from the Conrail tracks in Olmsted <br />Township. The Divisional Train Maier of Conrail has informed Mr. Nagh.ar that freight <br />trains are required by the Federal Railway Association to give two short blasts at <br />crossings. In addition, this crossing is used by Amtrak passenger trams which travel at <br />high speeds and sound the whistle as the entire train passes through the crossing. <br />Mr. Musial, Chairperson of the Transportation Committee, reported: 1) The committee <br />met on September 12, and in attendance were Council Members Saringer, Nashar, Musial <br />and Safety Director Kasler. The committee discussed Ordinance 94-108, which provides <br />for the installation of a `21o Left Turn" sign with the supplementary legend "7:30 a.m. to <br />8 a.m. School Days, Except Buses" for tra$c traveling north on Revere Drive and turning <br />west onto Butternut Ridge Road. The committee had input with regard to this ordinance <br />from residents and the Police Department, and the committee recommended approval. <br />3 <br />4 <br />
