Council Minutes of 7/5/94 <br />The committee requested that the Personnel & Administrative Director actively solicit bids <br />for group life insurance in anticipation of reducing some of the costs that have been <br />incurred. The committee reconnmtnded approval of the legislarion. <br />• e. Ordinance 94-105, which suthori~es the Iirector of Public Safety to advertise for and <br />accept bids for miscellaneous hockey egrt to be sold in the Recreation Center Pro <br />Shop. Since two separate req ' ' ' sunder the $10,000 public bid requirement were <br />received from the same supplier, it was decided to combffie them and go to bids in an <br />effort to attain better prices. The committee recommended approval of the legislation. <br />Mr. Nashar, Chairperson of the Public Safety, 13ealth and Welfare Committee, reported: <br />1) The committee met on June 29 and in attendance were committee members Lirmpert <br />and Nashar, Safety Director Kasler, and Service Director Bohhnann. On the agenda was <br />Ordinance 94-101 which would proh~h truck traffic in excess of five tans on Country <br />Club Boulevard from Lorain Road to Victoria Lane. The committee recommended <br />approval. <br />Mr. Musial, Chairperson of the Transportation Committee, reported: 1) The comr~#tee <br />has requested that the Safety Director provide a listing of all the `2io Turn on Red" signs <br />so that a determination can be made as to which should be restricted in terms of time <br />application. Also, the commhtee requested that the Safety Director consider hooding the <br />"No Turn on Red" sign at the intersection of Porter and Lorain Roads because at present <br />it is difficult to determine if it is applicable to traffic traveling south on Porter Road or <br />traffic traveling west on Lorain Road. <br />Mr. Limpert, Chairperson of the Environmental Control Committee, reported: 1) The <br />committee met on Wednesday, June 29, to discuss Ordinance 94-100. This legislation will <br />update city standards with regard to storm water management and urban sectary <br />pollution abatements. City Engineer Deichnnann and Service Director Bahlmann feel these <br />changes are necessary in order to clarify the standards far developers. The camndttee <br />recommended approval. <br />AUDIENCE PARTIC~PATI4N <br />Nancy Saegel, 5248 West Park Drive, enjoys living near North Olmsted Park and feels <br />very strongly that alcoholic beverages do not belong in the park because it is a family area. <br />She feels that the Labor Day Parade could be held in a private park or the part~at~ts <br />could drink non-alcoholic beverages. <br />Lois DeBrodt, 23141 Stoneybrook Drive, said she saw no reason whatsoever to have <br />alcoholic beverages iri the park. She has put on parades in North Olmsted for 25 years <br />and many groups have requested the right to have alcoholic beverages in the park and <br />have been refused. The Shriners who participate in the city's I~omecoming Facade have <br />an "after-glow party" at a private facility after the parade. Mrs. DeBrodt feels that <br />allowing the Labor Day Parade participants to have beer in the park will open up a <br />"Pandora's Box." <br />5 <br /> <br />
