MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JUNE 7, 1994 <br />Present: Council Preet Boomer, Council Members Bahas, LitnPert, Lind, <br />McKay, Mu®al, Naar, Sarimger <br />Also Present: Mayor Ed Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Clerk of Council <br />Barbara Seman <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:03 p.m in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the meeting of May 17, 1994 were approved as written. <br />Mr. Boehmer announced that Ordinance No. 94-98 would be added to the agenda. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) Along with Service Director Bohlmann, met with Mr. <br />Kaczmar, the senior housing architect, to review the footprint of the buildiogs. <br />Preliminary sketches of the buildings were also reviewed including the outside view of the <br />buildings and the layout of the different unit types. The placement of individual HVAC <br />systems was discussed. By g these units easily accessinle from the hallway, there <br />wdl be more living space available and little disruption to the residents during repairs. <br />ADA standards and regulations were also reviewed. <br />2) The acquisition of land for senior housing was also discussed with Mr. Kaczmar. <br />3) Last week the Senior Center held a hmcheon to honor its vohinteers. It is difficult to <br />put a dollar value on the many hours of work contributed to the community by these <br />volunteers. <br />4) The Memorial Day Parade and All Scouts Weekend were successfiil events. The good <br />weather was enjoyed by all who participated. <br />5) On June 1, a Town Hall meeting was held in Ward II. Many good questions were <br />asked and answered and many good suggestions were made. It was a learning experience <br />for administrators and Ward II residents. <br />6) At its meeting today, the County Planning Commission approved the solid waste <br />management bill that was approved by our city and by a minimum of 60% of the residents <br />of Cuyahoga County. Mayor Lynch of Euclid expressed concern about the ability of the <br />county to designate where trash would be hauled. Commissioner Hagan explained that, <br />for the good of the entire county, no one city could put itself in the way. No city will have <br />the singular power to force others to take trash to one certain place. Mayor Lynch of <br />Euclid and Mayor Coyne of Brook Park were the only two dissenting votes. <br /> <br />
