Council Minutes of 6/7/94 <br />Commission on April 12. The City Engineer approved the proposal with the exception of <br />the street length; however, the Safety Department had no problem with this is~e. Mrs. <br />Saringer moved to approve the Barton Oaks subdivision plat; second by Mr. McKay; <br />motion passed unanimously. <br />b. The new fire station pleas were preserved by the architects. The plants were approved <br />by the Planning Com~russton aad ARB. As many trees as possinhe will be saved during <br />landscaping. Nearby residents would like to have a ward-on board fence in .After <br />the facility is built, the city wdl dude on the height of the fence. The c ee did not <br />unanimously agree on the color of the accent trim. The architects will presa~t another <br />selection of colors to the Service Director. <br />Mr. McKay, Chairperson of the Streets & Drainage Committee reported: 1) On May 18, <br />the committee met in joint session with the Finance, Environmental anal Public Safety, <br />Health and Welfare Co ee~. In attendance were Council Members Bahas, Lind, <br />Limpert, Musial, Nashar, McKay; Mayor Boyle; Finance Director Burns. The following <br />items were discussed: <br />a. Resolution 94-82, which authorizes the Service Director to advertise for and accept <br />bids for improvements to the Dover Lift Station. The committee recommended approval <br />b. Ordinance 94-84, an ordinance accepting the storm and sanitary sewer easements <br />located on Birch Elementary School property which will serve the new fire station. The <br />committee recommended passage. <br />c. Ordinance 94-85, an ordinance accepting a sidewalk easement on the Shorewest <br />Con ruction Company property which will serve Canterbury Road. The committee <br />recommended approval. A portion of this sidewalk is installed, and Mr. Nashar <br />questioned the drop-off close to the bridge. Mr. McKay said that installation of the <br />remainder is probably the re~onsibility of the city; however, he would speak to the <br />Service Director about the matter. <br />d. Resolution 94-88, which deals with a storm sewer on East Park Drive, was briefly <br />discussed. This legislation will be held in committee until more information is received. <br />Mr. Lind, Chairperson of the Finance Committee, reported: 1) The committee met on <br />May 18 in joint session with the Streets & Drainage, Environmental and Public Safety, <br />Health and Welfare Committees. In attendance were committee members Musial, McKay, <br />Lind; Council Members Limpert, Bahas, Nas~har; Mayor Boyle; Finance Director Burns. <br />The following items were discussed: <br />a. Resolution 94-82, which authorizes the bidding for improvements to the Dover Lift <br />Station. Because these improvements are needed for flood control purposes, the <br />committee recommended passage. <br />b. Resolution 94-81, which authorizes the bidding for the new fire station. Since the <br />majority of Council had previously attended a formal presentation by the architects, the <br />committee recommended approval with little discussion. <br />c. Ordinance 94-8b, a dis-appropriation ordinance, which was required since finalizing of <br />year-end carryovers indicated a deficit in the General Fund.
