MINUTES OF Tf~ MFETIIaG OF TFIE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF I~E3RTH OI~ISTED <br />FEBRUARY 15, 1994 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Limpert, Lind, Musial, <br />Saringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Ed Boyle, Law Director Michael Gateau, Finance Director <br />James Burns, Clerk of Council Barbara Seman <br />Absent: Council Members Bahas, McKay, Nashar <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:10 p.m. in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Fledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the meeting of February 1, 1994 were approved as written. <br />President Boehmer announced that Ordinance Nos. 93-159 and 93-160 would be <br />removed from the agenda. A special Council meeting will be held an Wednesday, <br />February 16. The following legislation will be on the agenda: Ordinance Nos. <br />93-159, 93-160, 94-36 through 94-42, 94-45 and Resolution No. 94-31. <br />President Boehmer announced that the following Public Hearings will be held on <br />Tuesday, March 1: 7 p.m., Ordinance No. 93-155; 7:10 p.m., Ordinance No. 93-140. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) The Fire Department's run total for January was 246, <br />which is the highest monthly total in the history of the department. Medical <br />runs accounted for 171 of the total. <br />2) The Law Director has pointed out a possible flaw in the zoning laws with <br />regard to the construction of nursing homes. A copy of Mr. Gateau's opinion has <br />been forwarded to the Planning Commission for their input. <br />3) The duties of Administrative Assistant Ms. Wlodarski have been shifted to <br />primarily economic development. With the 100% tax credit, an abundance of retail <br />establishments and the problems of further retail development, it is crucial that <br />more time and energy be devoted to inducing other types of development and <br />expansion within the city. Ms. Wlodarski has been successful working on a part- <br />time basis in her efforts to attract such companies as Moen and Mac Systems to <br />the city. <br />4) With the help of the Greater Cleveland Growth Association, Ms. Wlodarski is <br />also currently involved with interviewing firms to assist with the promotion of <br />North Olmsted. <br />5} The Recreation Center is sponsoring "Lumberjack Skates" during hockey season-- <br />free tickets to Lumberjack games are being raffled. On Fridays, the younger <br />children are being treated to "Blimpie Bear Skates" which feature free cookies <br />ar~d sandwiches aril a puck-shooting contest. There has been an increase in <br />attendance at the Rec Center this winter. Revenues in January were up by $1,500 <br />for concessions, $4,700 for the pool and $9,500 for the ice rink. <br />w.Y.n.~.._ _ . ,.,.,. <br />
