MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JANtTARY 4, 1994 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Limpert, Lirxi, McKay, <br />Musial, Nashar, Saringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Fd Boyle, Law Director Michael Gareau, Clerk of Council <br />Barbara Seman <br />Absent: Council Member Bahas <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. in Council <br />Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were irnrited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the meeting of December 21, 1993 were approved as written. <br />Mr. Boehmer welcomed Ward I Council Member Duane Limpert and wished him good <br />luck as he follows in the footsteps of his father who previously served on <br />Council for twenty-two years. <br />Mr. Boehmer announced that the following legislation would be passed under <br />suspension of the rules: Ordinance Nos. 94-1, 94-2, 94-3, 94-4 and 94-5. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) Negotiations for the acquisition of Springvale are <br />going well. <br />2) The Board of Control met last week to approve the contract for gasoline <br />purchases. We had hoped to form a partnership with the Cleveland schools in <br />order to lower costs, however, it did rat work out. We do purchase gasoline far <br />our school district. <br />3) The Board of Control also met on the computer bids and awarded four contracts. <br />4) Met with Safety Director Gundy, Service Director Bohlmam and Recreation <br />Commissioner Fattlar on proposals for Claque Park and for the north end. of North <br />Olmsted Park. Changes being considered in conjunction with the drainage work <br />that is being done are as follows: moving one of the baseball fields in Claque <br />Park to eliminate disturbances to neighbors; moving the tennis area in order to <br />accommodate basketball and tennis; allowing for more parking; adding a picnic <br />pavilion. A smaller baseball field at the northern end of North Olmsted Park is <br />also being considered. The natural areas of the northeast quadrant will be <br />maintained. The area will also feature multi-purpose fields so that it can be <br />better utilized by the entire comfmariity. <br />5) The alternate Wal--Mart plans have been submitted to the Building Department <br />and the plans will be discussed at the next meeting of the Planning Commission. <br />6) The swearing-in ceremony which was sponsored by Community Council took place <br />on Saturday, January 1, 1994. County Commissioner Tim Hagan swore in all but two <br />officials. Mr. Limpert was sworn in by his mother Ruth Limpert. Mr. Gareau, who <br />was ill on that day, was sworn in by the Mayor this evening. <br />.:~~rt <br />
