Council Minutes of 1/4/94 <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) A brief with regard to the Eliza Jennings case <br />has been submitted, and we have received a brief in opposition. Hopefully, the <br />judge will make a ruling in our favor within the next ten days and the city will <br />receive judgment in the amount of $lOb,000. <br />2) A meeting was held today with a federally appointed mediator to try to resolve <br />the Robinson case. There was no resolution, and the discovery that will tape <br />place in California on January 7 will proceed as scheduled. This case is being <br />handled. by insurance counsel, but the Law Department is monitoring it very <br />closely. <br />In the absence of Finance Director Burns, Mayor Boyle reported: 1) Ordinance <br />Nos. 94-3 aril 94-4 are the refinancing of notes issued Last year for the <br />acquisition of trucks for the Service Department and a pumper truck for the Fire <br />Department. These are not new borrowings. <br />2) Ordinance No. 94-2 pertains to Issue. 2 funding. <br />3) Ordinance 93-159 is a first issue on the acquisition of land and by Charter <br />requirements must receive three readings and a 30-day waiting period after <br />passage. The amt indicated includes cost of the acquisition, capitalized <br />interest and refurbishing. Babas <br />Mr. McKay moved to approve the organizational structure of Council; second by <br />Mrs. Beringer; motion passed unanimously. <br />Mrs. Beringer, Chairperson of the Building, Zoning and Development Co~mittee, <br />reported: 1) This evening, the BZD Committee was presented with an mrnenci~nent to <br />the preliminary land use plan of the Master Plan for a parcel that is bounded by <br />Brookpark Road to the north and Country Club Blvd. to the south and Great <br />Northern Blvd. to the west. ~ behalf of the committee, Mrs. Beringer mQVed that <br />the plan be forwarded to the Planning Commission for consideration; second by Mr. <br />Nashar. Roll call: Beringer, yes; Nashar, yes; Musial, yes; McKay, na; Lind, <br />yes; Limpert, yes. Motion passed with five affirmative votes and one negative <br />vote. <br />2 <br />
