a. <br />Council Minutes of 9/5/95 <br />3) Also on this evening's agenda is Ordinance 95-126 which appropriates 1996 money for <br />the acquisition of Pofice cars. The vehicles will be acquired through the State of Ohio <br />purchasing program, and the cars are made available on a first-come, Ertel-served basis. <br />Last year, the cars were oversold and we were one ofthe communities that dhi not receive <br />an order. Therefore, this year we are trying to get a head dart on gettYng the paperwork <br />into Columbus so we do not get shut out. <br />Mr. McKay, Chairperson of the Streets & Drainage Committee and the Intra- <br />Governmental Relations, Legislative and Long-Range Planning Comsnhtee: 1) The <br />Legislative Committee met on Monday, August 21. In attendance were Council Members <br />Lmd, Musial, Limpert, Saringer and McKay; Council President Boehmer; Service Director <br />Bohlmann; City Engineer Dechmann. The following items were discussed: <br />a. A request from the Board of Building Code Appeals to modify the procedure for <br />notification in cases of appeal from the property maintenance code. Two committee <br />members and three Council members who were also in attendance did not wig to change <br />the notification. Therefore, the area of notification will remain at a 500 foot radius of the <br />affected property. <br />b. Ordinance 95-117, which amends Section 741.03 of the Codified Ordinance to require <br />businesses located within 250 feet of residential property to post ins alerting truck <br />drivers to prohibitions against deliveries during certain hours and prohions again <br />running engines while making deliveries. The committee agreed that the wards, `between <br />11 p.m. and 7 a.m," be added to Section 741.03 (b). However, the commhtee is divided <br />on the question of posting the signs and the legislation will be held in committee for <br />further discussion. <br />2) The Streets & Drainage Committee met briefly after the Legislative Committee meeting <br />and discussed flooding problems in the city. Plans are in progress for work on the <br />Georgette Avenue area, the Ehhe Ditch and the Claque Road culvert north of Lorain Road. <br />Other flooding areas are still being evaluated for future repair work. <br />Mr. McKay reported for Mr. bind, Chairperson of the Finance Committee: 1) The <br />Finance Committee met on Monday, August 21. In attendance were committee members <br />McKay, Musial and Lmd; Council Members Limpert, Saringer and Nashar; Council <br />President Boehmer; Safety Director Kasler; Service Director Bohlmann; Finance Iirector <br />Bums; Personnel & Administrative Director Wilamosky. Agenda items were as follows: <br />a. Resolution 95-108, which authorizes bidding for 50,000 gallons of sodium aluminate <br />for use at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. This is approximately none-year supply and <br />the estimated cost is thirty to forty thousand dollars. The EPA requires the use of this <br />substance at the WWTP.
