~~ <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CQUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF Nt3ftTH OLMSTED <br />AUGUST 15,1995 <br />Present: Council Preset Boomer, Conned Members Limpert, Lind, McKay, <br />Miller, Musial, Na~iar, Beringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk of <br />Council Semen <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:18 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of July 5, 1995 were approved as written. <br />President Boehmer announced that Resohition Nos. 95-107, 95-112, 95-113, 95-114, <br />95-115 and Ordinance No. 95-116 would be passed under su~ension of the rules. Also, a <br />public hearing w~71 be held an September 5 for Resolution No. 95-11. <br />Mayor Boyle presented a proclamation of congratulations and recogaitian to <br />Amy Vander Schrier who recently received the President's Award after being named <br />Cleveland State University outstanding graduate for 1995. Nineteen year old Amy, a <br />North Olmsted High School graduate, coi~leted a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science <br />at Cleveland State University in two and a half years while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Amy <br />was also named 1995 autstandhig student leader, was co-winner of the Political Science <br />Student Award, served as secretary of the Student Government Association and as liaison <br />to the Ohio Student Association and was news editor and managing editor of the student <br />newspaper, The Cauldron. Amy was congratulated and commended for her outstanding <br />academic achievements and was recognized by all present. <br />RE_ P~R1'S <br />Mayor Boyle: 1) In accordance with the tax abatement agreement to share Moen income <br />taxes with the schools, the city has made a first payment of 526,000. Payments will <br />continue to be made to the schools during the ten-year term of the tax abatement <br />agreement. North Olmsted is one of the few cities to share income taxes with schools. <br />2) Data Processnig Commoner Sara White is currently working on develciping a GIS <br />(Geographic Information Systeffi), which is a mapping project to be used primarily within <br />the Building and Engineering Departments. <br />
