MIlVUTES QF THE MEETING QF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 1~ORTH OLMSTED JULY 5,1995 Present: Council President Boehrner, Council Members Limpert, Lmd, McKay, Miller, Musial, Nashar, Saringer Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk of Council Seman Council President Boehmer called the .meeting to order at 8:03 p.m in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The minutes of the meeting of June 20, 1995 were approved as written. President Boehmer introduced and welcomed new Police Chief Frank Viola.. President Boehmer announced that Ordinance No. 95-86 would be removed from the agenda and held in conmrittee and the following legislation would be pawed under suspension of the rules: Ordinance Nos. 95-95, 95-100, 95-101, 95-103, 95-104, 95-106 and Resolution No. 95-105. I ~ ,TS Mayor Boyle: 1) The promotion of Frank Viola to Police Chief will cause a vacancy within the department. Te~g and promotions will be taking place the rema~der of the year. Also, a second D.A.RE. officer will be added in addition to the increase of two officers to the department. 2) The new N.O.C.O.P, van has arrived. Increased time has now been allotted to seniors attending the hot pinch program at the Senior Center. 3) The Fourth of July celebration was successful -everyone enjoyed the festivities. Thanks to everyone who volunteered. 4) The city hosted the annual NOSO tournament during the holiday weekend whh aver twenty-three hundred children participating. Several teams from Canada and a team from France participated in the tournament. A large donation by Ameritech hued assure a successful tournament. 5) Everyone at the Fourth of July celebration enjoyed seeing former Councilwoman Pat Bahas who was here for a visit.
