MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE C1TY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JUNE 20, 1995 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Limpert, McKay, Miller, <br />Musial, Nashar, Saringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Bums, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Absent: Council Member Lind <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:12 p.m in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />The minutes of the meeting of June 6, 1995 were approved as written. <br />President Boehmer announced that the following legislation would be passed under <br />suspension of the rules: Ordinance Nos. 95-92, 95-97, 95-98 and Resolution Nos. 95-94 <br />and 95-96. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Boyle: 1) The Mayor will highlight his reports at the Council meetings and submit <br />a detailed written report to Council Members and to the media. The written report will be <br />attached to the Council minutes. (Please see attachment.) <br />2) The public open house for the new fire station will likely be around the time of <br />Homecoming. The Mayor is considering having an earlier open house for Council <br />Members. <br />3) Police Chief Dennis Sefcek has retired as of Friday, June 16. He was Chief during a <br />very harsh transition period--many new officers were added to the force and many new <br />policies were implemented. However, his expertise allowed the department to move <br />through the transition period without problems. Chief Sefcek did a great job, and we are <br />going to miss him <br />4) Capt. Frank Viola will be sworn in on July 5 as the new Police Chief. He and Capt. <br />George Ruple scored very close on the test, and the city would have been well served with <br />either as Chief. Mr. Nashar asked whether the sweafing-in would take place at the City <br />Council meeting. Mayor Boyle responded that traditionally the ceremonies took place in <br />the morning at the beginning of a shift. Capt. Viola will be appointed Operations Capt. <br />until the swearing-in ceremony so that he can serve as acting Chief. The naming of a new <br /> <br />
