Council Report
May 3, 1995
Election
Congratulations to the winners and losers from yesterdays
election. Thank you for wanting to take an active part in our
government and join the successes made aver the past 5 years.
I also want to thank a!I our citizens for utilizing their righ# to vote.
This is an important duty in any Democracy. Your votes both for
and against an issue or a candidate are very meaningful.
1 remind the victors of May 2nd that your platform was rejected
by many people and that rejection should be explored. We are
here to serve everyone, not just those who agree with us. I
implore each of you to find the reasons for the "NO" votes
because with that information you will be better able to serve
North Olmsted and government itself.
YDP
Ms. Chris Allegra, our YDP Coordinator has made application to
the County for the summer work program. As you know, this
brings seasonal employment for area youths and is funded by
Cuyahoga County.
Ms. Allegra will also introduce a new program regarding early
teen sexuality, 7th grade, later this month. The first session,
May 9th, will be for parents only. Ms. Lynn Skunta, a
professional counselor with Olmsted Psychotherapy Associates,
will address specific concerns of early teens, peer pressures,
trends and opening communication between paren# and child
regarding sexuality. Parents will also have the opportunity to
share with us the types of concerns, questions or ideas they
have regarding teen sexuality. We want to create an
atmosphere here where we a!I can learn and develop
assistance. This is not an imperialistic demonstration of how
-- much some lab technician thinks they know about our problems.
..
