The second session, May 18th, wiN include the children. Along
with integrating some of the things we learned in the first session
the children will include discussions on respect for the f~dies
and feelings of others, some ways to deal with social pressures
as well as the physical and emotional changes occurring at this
time. There will also be time for parents and children to
exchange thoughts and either start or continue a dialog to help
strengthen the family unit and the families position in the area of
sexuality.
Civil Service Commission
Mr. Glenn Marks has had to resign from the Civil Service
Commission due to conflicting work schedules. I am currently
interviewing some prospective candidates and should have a
name prior to your next meeting.
Barton Road Property
Board of Control met on Monday, May 1st to consider the sale of
the Barton Road property. We received two bids, both under the
minimum $30,000 stated by Council. Mr. Bohlmann informed
the Board that he had polled Council on the issue and received
unanimous approval to sell the property to the highest bidder.
The high bid was $26,700 with $1,000 down and the remainder
in 60 days. The successful bidder was Mr. Wright, a neighbor of
the property.
Cleaning Services
One program developed by the Service Department to improve
efficiencies and reduce cost is the elimination of cleaning
contracts. A review was made of all installations and it was
determined #hat existing personnel could perform the cleaning
tasks in City Hall and at the Senior Center. Based on current
bids, this will produce a saving of approximately $14,475 in the
General Fund. The review also determined that it was cost
effective to enter into cleaning contracts at both Bus and
Recreation. These contracts were approved by the Board of
Control on May 1st, the same day the Service Department
commenced the work.
