MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL
~N+
~, OF THE C1TY OF NORTH OLMSTED
MARCH 7,1995
Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Limpert, Lmd, McKay,
Miller, Musial, Nashar, Saringer
Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Bums, Clerk of
Council Seman
Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:01 p.m in Council Chambers,
5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio.
Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance
to the Flag.
The minutes of the Council meeting of February 21, 1995 were approved as written.
President Boehmer announced that Ordinance No. 95-31 and Resolution No. 95-32 would
be passed under suspension of the rules.
REPORTS
Mayor Boyle: 1) The Mayor introduced the newly appointed Recreation Commissioner,
Michael Dolansky. Mr. Dolansky previously held a similar position in Miamisburg, Ohio
where he successfiilly installed many of the programs that North Olmsted is considering.
Although there were many good candidates, Mr. Dolansky's attention to detail, resident
input, needs assessments and budgetary constraints made him a clear choice aver an
extensive search. Mr. Dolansky was welcomed by all present.
2) Mr. Tom Herbster was recommended for appointment to the Planning Commission to
fill the vacancy created by Mr. Miller's resignation. As a member of the citizen group
Vision, Mr. Herbster was a positive influence and helped to bridge the gap between the
citizens and Wal Mart and bring the situation to a successful conclusion. This opportunity
allowed him to understand the operations of the Planning Commission, and he will be an
asset to that body. Ms. Diane Koster-Marquard was recommended for appointment to the
Recreation Commission. In the past, Ms. Koster-Marquard has shared her interest and
concerns about recreation issues and will be an asset to the Recreation Commission. The
following people were recommended for appointment to the Charter Review Commission:
Michael Albanese, Michael Bruno, Jan Dunn, Dennis Lambert, Tom O'Grady, Kate
Powell, John Ryan, Jack Van Kuren, Gabriela Waechter. This group represents a good
cross-section of the community. The Legislative Committee will review these
recommended appointments.
