~~~
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
PUBLIC HEARING
FEBRUARY 21,1995
Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Lmd, McKay, Musial,
Nashar, Saringer
ALso Present: Law Director Gareau, Clerk of Council Seman
Council President Boehmer called the public hearing to order at 7:22 p.m. in Council
Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio.
The public hearing was held to discuss Ordinance No. 95-1, an ordinance providing for the
amendment of the Zone Map of the City of North Olmsted by changing the hereinafter
described parcels of real property from General Retail Business and Single Family
Residence B district to Senior Residence District.
Mrs. Saringer stated that this ordinance had been recommended for approval by the
Planning Commission and had been approved by all the proper committees. In addition,
the contract for the sale of the land stipulates that this rezoning must be accomplished.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Bob Grace, 30406 Lorain Road, asked whether the rezoning would be placed before the
electorate, how far to the east and west would the rezoning extend, and would the
rezoning take effect immediately. Mr. Grace was told that the rezoning is not a ballot
issue. As to the extent of the rezoning, Mr. Gareau said that to the west it inchided the
Dancik's home but did not include Mr. Grace's home and the boundary to the east was St.
Clarence's Church property. 'The rezoning will go into effect thirty days after the Mayor
signs the legislation.
Louann Balogh, 30246 Lorain Road, said she was opposed to the rezoning. In addition,
she is opposed to the proposed senior housing project because she feels it will bring down
the property values of the surrounding parcels, including her property. Ms. Balogh
purchased her property because it was zoned General Retail and is concerned that it might
be changed at some future time.
Mr. Gareau commented that the comprehensive zoning plan actually encompassed
changing the zoning of this area in order to eliminate the spread of commercialism on the
west end of the city.
~, .
