Council Minutes of 2/7/95 <br />.~- homes. The homeowners association decided to take action on this issue because it is a <br />safety issue. The current lighting is woefully inadequate. Service Director Bohlmann has <br />conducted a resident survey of the area, and the results show that 66% of the residents <br />responding approve of the installation of street lights. Mr. Laws stated that it was his <br />understanding a similar project had been completed in Canterbury Woods, and the Twin <br />Woods residents would like to be considered for a similar project. <br />Dan Reed, 27752 Blossom Boulevard, spoke on the need for street lights in the Twin <br />Woods development. Mr. Reed explained that the lack of lighting caused parents to <br />worry about the safety of their children who had to wait for school buses during the dark <br />early morning hours. He encouraged Council and the Mayor to push for this project. <br />Service Director Bohtmann commented that Canterbury Woods had not had any street <br />light improvements--although it has been proposed along with other subdivisions. He said <br />that street lights in Canterbury Woods and the entire city had been converted from <br />mercury vapor to high pressure sodium. <br />Carole Reed, 27752 Blossom Boulevard, mentioned that Blossom has only one street light <br />which is located at the corner of Dover Center Road. The residents depend upon home <br />lighting to provide street illumination. <br />LEGISLATION <br />Ordinance No. 95-2 introduced by Mrs. Beringer was given its second reading. An <br />ordinance accepting for dedication Al Moen Drive in the City of North Olmsted. <br />Ordinance No. 95-3 introduced by Mayor Boyle was given its second reading. An <br />ordinance authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Ohio Patrolmen's <br />Benevolent Association, which agreement is the collective bargaining agreement between <br />the City and North Olmsted Correction Officers, and declaring an emergency. Mr. McKay <br />moved for suspension of the rules requiring three readings; second by Mrs. Beringer; <br />motion passed unanimously. Mr. McKay moved for adoption; second by Mrs. Beringer; <br />motion passed unanimously. Ordinance No. 95-3 adopted. <br />Resolution No. 95-4 introduced by Mr. Lind was given its second reading. A resolution <br />authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for cleaning services for various <br />municipal buildings, as detailed in the specifications on file, and authorizing the Mayor to <br />contract for same, and declaring an emergency. <br />Resolution No. 95-5 introduced by Mr. McKay was given its second reading. A <br />resolution authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for construction <br />of catch basin, manhole, sidewalk, curbing and pavement repairs at various locations in the <br />City of North Olmsted, and declaring an emergency. <br />4 <br /> <br />
