MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />'`` OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JANUARY 3,1995 <br />Present: Council Prudent Boehmer, Council Members Limpert, Lmd, McKay, <br />Musial, Nashar, Saringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Absent: Council Member Bahas <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:02 p.m in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />President Boehmer announced that Resolution No. 94-182 and Ordinance No. 94-183 <br />would be passed under suspension of the rules. <br />RE RTS <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) Two lawsuits regarding public records have been filed <br />against the city. One deals with failing to provide certain public records which the city <br />feels it has the right to withhold. The other lawsuit deals with the destruction of public <br />records with regard to an internal investigation of the Pofice Department. The most recent <br />litigation is being handled by the Law Department instead of insurance counsel because <br />the amount involved is less than $10,000. <br />2) The sale of the Dancik property is complete. The second phase of this project will be <br />the sale of the parcel acquired from Mr. O'Grady. On first reading tonight is an ordmance <br />proposing a zoning change for the three parcels of land that will be used for senior <br />housing. <br />Mayor Boyle reported: 1) The County Planning Commission met on December 13 to <br />examine the problems with SAFE and to discuss the impact on individual communities. <br />Unwise investments and unauthorized borrowings in the SAFE program resulted in a <br />portfolio that included bonds that matured in approximately 24 years. These bonds had to <br />be sold at a loss, which contn`buted to a good deal of the problems. The problems will <br />now be solved over a period of years by shortening the county's general fund. This will <br />have an effect on other foods which in turn will effect the city. North Ohnsted's main use <br />of county services is with the County Engineer and health services.
