MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL
r.~,
OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
NOVEMBER 19, 1996
Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Limpert, Lind, McKay,
Musial, Nashar, Saringer
Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk of
Council Seman
Absent: Council Member O'Grady
Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8:06 p.m. in Council Chambers,
5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio.
Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance
to the Flag.
Mr. McKay moved to approve the minutes of the Council meeting of November 6, 1996
as written; second by Mr. Nashar; motion passed unanimously.
President Boehmer announced that Resolution No. 96-177 would be passed under
suspension of the rules.
Mr. Musial moved that Ordinance No. 96-176 be removed from the agenda; second by
Mrs. Saringer; motion passed unanimously.
REPORTS
Mayor Boyle: 1) Pursuant to the requirements of the Fair Housing Code recently passed
by City Council, a Fair Housing Council must be formed. The candidates he is
recommending for Council's approval are Michael Gareau Jr. and Carole Vance. Also,
City Council must choose a member to serve and the Mayor or his designee will serve.
The Mayor's designee will be Marlene Telegedy, Senior Center Administrator.
2) Cablevision is sending out letters to residents stating that the city is prohibiting them
from working during hours that would prevent TV interruption. It is true that the city will
not give noise variances to allow Cablevision to use heavy equipment, dig under lawns and
walk through backyards in the middle of the night. This is an unsafe practice and is not
warranted. We believe that residents will agree that a few minutes of interrupted cable
service during the day is preferable to having safety and noise problems in the
neighborhoods.
