Council Minutes of 4/16!96
preliminary at this point. Once the plans are finalized, he will be happy to listen to the
residents' concerns. In response to Mr. McKay's request, Mr. Bohohnann said he would
A speak to the city traffic engineer about Mrs. Kummer's concerns and he would respond to
her in writing.
Mrs. Sokol, 4909 Porter Road, also expressed concerns about the Porter-Mill Road
project. Her husband has spoken to the Engineering Department about his concerns of
not being able to enter and leave his driveway because of traffic. Mr. & Mrs. Sokol are
also concerned about runoff water--a concern they have had for 28 years. On numerous
occasions, they have told the city that the sidewalk from Lorain Road to Mill Road is
`nothing but a canal of water." Mrs. Sokol also suggested another problem to be
addressed is the dangerous curve in the road. In addition to these issues, she mentioned
that the Mill Road sidewalk which was torn up during the construction of Water Tower
Square and has not yet been repaired.
Alex Rychlik, 27900 North Park Drive, said he agreed with Mrs. Kummer's comments
that a traffic light was not needed.
Commenting on the drainage problem, Mr. Bohlmann stated that a new storm sewer will
be built down North Park Drive to drain the entire North Park, Mill Road and Porter Road
intersection because the city does recognize the fact that there is a significant amount of
standing water in the area.
Mr. Limpert questioned Mr. Bohlmann on the repair and installation of sidewalks in the
area. Mr. Bohlmann stated that there will be new sidewalks down the entire length of Mill
Road. He was not aware that sidewalks were still torn up from the Water Tower Square
construction, but he will see that they are temporarily repaired.
Jason Mahon, 4400 Lansing Drive, also agrees that a traffic light is not needed at the
Porter-Mill intersection.
Alex Sokol, 4909 Porter Road, was still concerned about the drainage on Porter Road.
Mr. Boehmer commented that the area will drain to a new storm sewer down North Park
Drive. Mr. Bohlmann explained that the intersection at Mill, North Park and Porter
currently drains south and goes through an open ditch over to East Park Drive. That area
will be totally realigned with the portion in the beginning of Mill Road draining to a new
storm sewer down North Park Drive. The water will eventually end up in a retention
basin to be built behind the Berkshire Drive area. The remainder of Mill Road will have
new storm sewers that will travel easterly over to the Dover Road storm sewer system.
Mrs. Sokol, 4909 Porter Road, again expressed her concerns about drainage in the Porter-
Mill area. She is especially concerned about the pipe that is on Mill Road and the catch
basin near the Kaserman property. Mr. Bohlmann explained that all the existing storm
sewers at that intersection will be torn out and replaced with new storm sewers.

6
