Council Minutes of 2/20/96 <br />3) At a recent hearing ui Common Pleas Court, evidence was presented with regard to the <br />Fox case. The city is requesting payment of attorneys' fees for frivolous conduct in this <br />case. <br />4) The Law Department is researching information on high resolution monitoring systems. <br />This is being done in preparation for legislation which would require camera surveillance <br />in commercial areas. <br />Finance Director Burns: 1) Beginning February 26 and continuing through March 4, the <br />Regional Income Tax Agency will conduct a subpoena program in North Olmsted. <br />Mr. Musial, Chairperson of the Building, Zoning and Development Committee: 1) The <br />BZD Committee will meet Thursday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m. to discuss four items from <br />the Planning Commission and several pieces of legislation. <br />Mrs. Saringer, Chairperson of the Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee: 1) <br />The Recreation Commission met on February 14, and Mr. Mike Janus from the hot-stove <br />baseball league gave a presentation. Recreation Commissioner Dolansky is working on <br />specifications for resurfacing the indoor tennis courts. <br />2) The Recreation Committee is invited to attend the March 13 meeting of the Recreation <br />Commission which will be held at 7 p.m. at the Rec Center. <br />Mr. Nashar reported on the Streets & Drainage Committee on behalf of committee <br />chairperson Mr. McKay: 1) The coirnnittee met on Thursday, February 15. In attendance <br />were committee members Lind and Nashar, Council Members Limpert and Musial; <br />Directors Bohlmann and Wilamosky; City Engineer Deichmann. The following items were <br />discussed: <br />a. Ordinance 96-24, which authorizes the Service Director to advertise for bids for the <br />Bretton Ridge Phase 3 improvements. The estimated cost is seven hundred thousand <br />dollars. The committee recommended approval. <br />b. Ordinance 96-26, which will amend Chapter 901 of the Codified Ordinances entitled <br />`excavations." The rates for inspection field crews will be: $40/hr. Monday through <br />Friday; $60/hr. on Saturday; $80/hr. on Sunday. The committee recommended approval. <br />c. Ordinance 96-27, which will amend Chapter 905 of the Codified Ordinances entitled <br />`driveways." This legislation will encompass condominium complexes, apartments and <br />commercial buildings. The inspection fees will be as stipulated in Ordinance 96-26. The <br />committee recommended approval. <br />2) With regard to the deletion of the bike path from the proposed Crocker/Steams Road <br />extension, he has received many phone calls and letters. The majority of the calls were not <br />in favor of retaining the bike path. Through discussions with the Pheasant's Walk-Quail <br />Run and West Park-Forest Ridge Civic Associations, it has been agreed that the concrete <br />sidewalk on the west side of the street should be widened to 7 feet. This will be classified <br />as an all-purpose path. The east side of the street will have a 5 foot concrete sidewalk. <br />Legislation authorizing the wider sidewalk has been requested.
