MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL ,,,F, OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED JANUARY 16,1996 Present: Council President Pro Tem Musial, Council Members Limpert, McKay, O'Grady, Nashar, Saringer Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk of Council Semen Absent: Council President Boehmer, Council Member Lmd Council President Pro Tem Musial called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. President Pro Tem Musial announced that Mr. Boehmer was absent and Ordinance Nos. 96-4 and 96-22 would be passed under suspension of the rule. REPORTS Mayor Boyle: 1) The DARE program is in the process of graduating its third round of students. The graduation at St. Richard's School took place this evening. The program has been extremely successful, and it is very rewarding to see how the children respond to the program and Officer Adamson. 2) On January 15, North Olmsted hosted approximately 80 DARE officers at a regional conference held at Springvale. Officer Adamson, Chief Viola and Safety Director Kesler attended and answered questions about our city's successful program. We are attempting to promote more community involvement with DARE. Two city restaurants, Olive Garden and Baker's Square, donated refreshments for the meeting. A cooperative golf outing with Westlake to benefit the DARE program is being considered for later this year. 3) Work on the appropriations is continuing. The administration is looking at two-year projections for capital expenditures which will be presented and discussed with the appropriations. 4) The annual NOSO Cup tournament does not have a sponsor this year. The cost is approximately $10,000. The administration will be contacting possible sponsors and suggestions are welcome. ~: ,~ ,:x,~ _ ,,_~_.~
