Residents have called and written with their concerns for the safety of children.
Because of the unsafe condition of this area, two new crossing guards will be placed there
when school resumes after the winter break.
2) The city's Internet page has won an award from a company in Great Britain. The city
Internet page received the award because it is extremely informative, easy to read and
gives the ability to residents to correspond with City Hall.
3) Before Council this evening is legislation authorizing the purchase of 9 acres of
property on Bradley Road for recreational purposes. The plan also includes the donation
of another 3/4 of an acre plus a house on that parcel. The house, which dates back to the
Civil War era, would be used as a meeting place and offices for NOSO and Hot Stove.
Because of the traffic problem that already exists, the plan is to add more parking by using
part of this property and by converting the leaf dump into a parking area. Parking can also
be increased by covering the culvert. The city engineers and Service Department have
looked at this area and feel the plan to add more baseball fields, soccer fields and parking
is feasible. The cost will be approximately $350,000, and that is in line with what acreage
is selling for on Bradley Road. The Mayor believes this would be a good investment,
would maintain green space and provide for more ball fields which are needed. Another
ordinance on this evening's agenda would rezone that property and the adjacent area from
