MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />'`~`' OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />DECEMBER 2, 1997 <br />Present: Council President Boehmer, Council Members Limpert, Lind, McKay, <br />Musial, Nashar, O'Grady, Saringer <br />Also Present: Mayor Boyle, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Burns, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Council President Boehmer called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance <br />to the Flag. <br />Mr. McKay moved to approve the Council minutes of November 18, 1997 as written; <br />second by Mr. Nashar; motion passed unanimously. <br />President Boehmer announced that Ordinance 97-117 would be added to the agenda and <br />Resolution 97-106 and Ordinances 97-115 and 97-116 would be passed under suspension <br />of the rule. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Boyle: 1) The annual Tree Lighting will take place at City Hall at 7:30 p.m. on <br />Thursday, December 4, and everyone is invited to attend. <br />2) Before Council tonight is legislation providing for a tax abatement agreement with <br />Schirmer Construction Company and a tax sharing agreement with the schools. <br />Schirmer's purchase of property in the industrial park will basically fill up the park. <br />3) He has been negotiating with Mr. Farver on the purchase of 9 3/4 acres of property on <br />the north side of Bradley Road, west of the soccer field parking lot. The city hopes to <br />convert this into recreation property since there is a need for more ball diamonds and <br />soccer fields. <br />4) There are two proposals currently before the city to build senior housing complexes. <br />One of the holdups is the issue of sewer tap-in fees. Projecting the cost of the tap-ins over <br />the number of units in a complex brings the price up considerably--more than any of our <br />neighboring communities. He would like Council to look into this matter because he feels <br />the costs are prohibitive. <br />Law Director Gareau: 1) As previously announced, Mr. Fattlar has filed an appeal to the <br />Supreme Court.
